The New Mexico Local News Fund supports the growth and sustainability of local journalism across the state. I founded NMLNF in 2018 with the goal of bringing together journalism and community stakeholders to talk about the future of local news. The Fund also offers training and financial support to both existing and emerging news organizations to help strengthen journalism and the relationship between journalists and community members across the state.
I currently serve as a co-director of NMLNF with Rashad Mahmood. We work with local and national funders like the Thornburg Foundation and the Democracy Fund. Our partners include the Rio Grande chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ), the University of New Mexico and New Mexico State University, the New Mexico Broadcasters Association and the New Mexico Press Association.
